"Provocative...a Frankenstein for the digital age...a rich text about power, autonomy, and what happens when our creations outgrow us." — Esquire

If men could pick and choose specifically what they want and do not want in their female “partner” what would they choose? Oh the debauchery!

This is all I could think about while reading Annie Bot. Annie is a robot (more like Fembot) and was created to be the perfect girlfriend to satisfy her human owner Doug.

Greer has cleverly created a fictional reality that thrusts the reader into considering what a man thinks a “perfect” girlfriend looks like. What would she look and feel like? What would her role be? What would her interests and desires be? Would she have any at all?

Buzz words like owner made me shift in my seat, and there were sexually charged scenarios that made me feel viscerally uncomfortable. In saying that, I couldn’t look away. I was pulled in to the somewhat mundane yet highly sexed life of Doug and Annie. I was committed to Annie’s ever-increasing ability to explore human traits such as curiosity, secrecy, and longing.

Annie Bot by Sierra Greer was my first experience with the science fiction genre and I’m so glad I could experience this entry level AI influenced novel with the Guiltless Clubbbers - bring on Book Club!

We guiltlessly recommend this book as a great entry level novel for those interested in the sci-fi genre, for anyone curious about the AI topic, and for those that want something totally different.
